Day 13 Tokyo, Japan

Today was a very, very memorable day…  Carol, Larry & I headed out first thing to Yokohama Station to catch a train to Tokyo.  It took about 30 minutes and then the fun began….  We bought an all day metro pass and we traveled from one end of the city, several times I think.  First stop were the markets which was great.  It’s so much fun watching people in their every day lives like going to the markets.   Next we went to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices building for scenic views of Tokyo.  That was well worth while….  Then it was off for a tour of the Imperial Palace.  That was about 1 ½ hours walking through the actual Palace grounds, very interesting.  After the tour we went to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace for a short visit before hooking up with Koichiro & Tomiko Hanada, friends of Larry & Carol’s who live nearby in Kawasaki.  They took us across town to a cruise of Tokyo Bay…..  it was wonderful!!!  Then we went to Senso-ji Temple.  Even though it was getting a little dark by then, it was still wonderful.  Then it was back on the train and off to dinner.  I had a wonderful time but I admit my conservative eating habits were not consistent with the menu.  We then went to Koichiro & Tomiko’s apartment for a night cap before heading back to the ship.  The day was magnificent, finishing with out=r arrival back around 1:00 am….  Great day!!!
