We arrived in the port of General San Martin around 7 am and I was out on the front deck in the wee hours taking sail in photos... We took the ships shuttle to Paracas to meet up with our tour guide for an excursion to the Tambo Colorado Ruins. We met our guide Joel and driver Abraham and took our one-hour drive to Tambo Colorado. The was lots of scenic views along with the way to Tambo. Tambo Colorado is an Inca archaeological site in Peru's Pisco River Valley, built for administrative and military purposes. It is known for its adobe structures with trapezoidal shapes and is also called Red Inn because of the red and yellow paint that originally plastered the walls. We toured the complex which consisted of a central plaza, various buildings, and ceremonial platforms. I did the trek up a portion of the Inca trail to get a panoramic view of the ruins and surrounding mountains. Our driver took us to the north end of the complex where we had a special tour…Joel whisked us in and out of the complex, that is the best one conserved, is subdivided into numerous rooms and separated by passages ways. After this tour we retraced our route and returned to Paracas. We waited for the shuttle and returned to the ship for lunch. It was a nice day and I was able to get in some rays. Tonight is the orange party and we have two welcomed days at sea before arriving in Chile.
