2018 GWV, Day 47, Albany, Western Australia

The weather today in Albany turned out to be much better than predicted, windy and cloudy but no rain. Ann, Cathy and I had no real plans for the day other than we decided to hire a taxi. We left the ship early and arranged for a tour with a cab driver to take us to Torndirrup National Park to see the Albany Gap and the Natural Bridge. The Gap is a 40 meter drop to the sea and the Natural Bridge is an expansive span of granite giving you a perfect representation of the power of the sea when waves crash against the coastline. Since I was last here a viewing platform and raised pathways have been constructed to allow epic views of the Gap, the Natural Bridge and the coast. Leaving the Albany Gap we headed to Discovery Bay to see the Albany’s historic whaling station, the last operating whaling station in Australia. On our return to Albany we passed the convict goal and the Brig Amity, a replica which brought the original settlers to Albany. Once back in Albany we strolled the downtown area of this quaint town visiting the sites.  There came a point when the call of shopping overtook the ladies so I departed....  As I strolled the streets of Albany, I came across a place for massages....  I decided that the best way to cap off an excellent day was to get a two hour massage..  I went into the Thai Angel Hand massage place and had an excellent 2 hour massage from Hom, pictured on the last photo, far left...  Great day!!!!
