Today, we arrived at the Port of Cadiz before sunrise. No chance for any sail in photos into the port of Cadiz.... Cadiz is a beautiful historical city surrounded by the Atlantic ocean. The city, known as the oldest continuously inhabited city in the Western world, has a well-aged feel with winding streets and lavish buildings and churches. Since Cadiz is a great city for walking, we decided to discover the old town of Cadiz on foot following the colored painted line tour. Ann, Cathy and I started our walk heading for the Torre Tavira watchtower. Making our way along the painted walkway we visited the San Juan de Dios square, the City Hall, the Cathedral, the Santiago church and the Central Market. We got our bearings by climbing up the baroque style Torre Tavira, the tallest of Cadiz's old watchtowers for sweeping views of the city. Onward to the Oratory of the Santa Cueva (Holy Cave). We continued to roam the streets of Cadiz despite the rain and had a Tapas lunch with great WIFI. We always enjoy Cadiz...what a great day!!! This is part 1 of a 2 part blog.....
