Myself, Ann, Cathy, Susan and Michael left the ship early to drive to Abu Dhabi for a day of touring. I was in my element on our visit to the produce, meat and fish market. The people were very friendly and these markets were some of the cleanest we have seen on our travels. Toured around the city for a couple of viewpoints and then went to visit the lavish Emirates Palace Hotel was a nice rest stop, a magnificent hotel. Everywhere you turn whether it be Dubai or Abu Dhabi you are mesmerized by the unique architectural design of the buildings. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque with its 28 domes is a spectacular site. This is the third largest mosque in the world behind Mecca and Pakistan. The ladies covered up from head to toe and we entered the mosque. An absolute majestic site with the crystal chandeliers, the inlayed marble domes and floors and columns. The largest carpet in the world hand made in Iran was thick and very comfortable to walk on in your bare feet. This has to be one of the world’s most beautiful mosques. Our site seeing took us past the Abu Dhabi Corniche, Yacht Club, Presidential Palace, the Presidential residence and homes of Emirates citizens. All in all we had a great day! Here is part two of two parts.....
