We had a very interesting day today…. Leslie, Handler & I were picked up around 9:30 and headed for Pachacamac, the sacred city that worshiped the god Pachacamac. The sanctuary is located in the Lurin Valley. From about 200-600 AD, the Lima culture, inhabited the site. When the Spanish arrived in 1533, Pachacamac was the most important religious sanctuary on the coast but was ultimately abandoned during the colonial period. We had a great guise and were amazed at the magnitude of the site, even though it is a long way from being fully excavated. We stooped along the way back to see the statue of Christ in the mountain and catch some fabulous views from up on high, all the way to Miraflores. We also had a great opportunity to see a lot of the colorful favelas…. Just an amazing day!!!! This blog is in two parts….
