Day 186 Muscat, Oman (Part 1 of 3)

Ann, Cathy, Brad & I headed out early this morning, around 7:30 to explore Oman…..  We hooked up a taxi for the day and went to our first stop, one of my favorites, the Muttrah Fish Souk (market).  It was a great place to snap some of the local men.  Next, we went to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and grand it was….  The carpet took 600 Iranian women 3 years to make, without seams…..  It was a very beautiful Mosque.  Then we headed way out of town to the Oasis of Nakhl where we visited the fort which was very well preserved and impressive.  Then it was off to the Ain A’Thawwarah natural mineral springs….  Some people dipped their toes into the warm water and let the fish give them a bit of a pedicure.  Then it was time to head back to Muscat.  There, we visited the Sultan’s Palace and the forts around the harbor…..  I especially like the giant incense burner high up on the mountain overlooking the water.  It was a spectacular day!  Once again, too many photos so I will post this in three parts.
