Day 114 Mumbai, India

What an amazing day!!!  Incredible India!  Ed, Becky, Mike, Janet & I hooked up a taxi early this morning and explored a fair amount of Mumbai.  We started out going to the Ganesha Hindu Temple were we gave offerings and received a blessing from the priests.   Next we went, once again, to the road less traveled..  We went to the Dadar neighborhood where we explored the markets and even witnessed the amazing feat of catching a local train, with people hanging on barely as the train pulls away.  Ed and I took a turn as a vegetable vendor, interesting job but difficult to get up on the platform.  Then we went to Dhobi Ghats, the laundry where I have been many times…  It seemed less busy than usual, perhaps we were there too early.  Next we went to Mani Bhavan, the Gandhi Museum…. Very nice.  Then it was off to explore the Church Gate neighborhood before lunch at the Gaylor restaurant.  We had a nice lunch and rehydrated before heading out again.  After lunch, we went to the Crawford Markets where we, once again, witnessed everyday life in Mumbai.  Our final stop for the day was at Victoria Terminus, the Mumbai Railway station.   It is a magnificent building… very busy.  I was very thankful for the signs declaring where you were not allowed to spit…  It can be confusing sometimes.  Those signs are almost as good as the “No Urinating” signs…  It is very important to maintain proper decorum…
