Bar Harbor, Maine...

Up early and I mean very, very early… before 5 am for sail in photos. Ann, Cathy and I were on the first tender to Bar Harbor, and we were very excited. I always love coming to Bar Harbor…  We explored the harbor area overlooking Frenchman’s Bay before the throngs of people invaded this lovely quintessential small town New England. We strolled around Bar Harbor’s very walkable downtown core to peruse its many shops, observe the numerous Tudor and Victorian-style buildings, the Martha Todd tall ship before making our way to the Acadia Gem. Acadia GEM rents Electric Vehicles and was a fun way to explore Acadia National Park in a smaller, easier to maneuver vehicle. We followed the map directions and took the Park Loop Road enjoying the scenery along the way and a visit to the must-do drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain. Cadillac Mountain, at 1,530 feet, is the tallest mountain on Mount Desert Island and the highest point along the North Atlantic seaboard. Unfortunately, our directions went askew but Acadia Gem offered a vehicle on our return visit next week in order for us to complete the second half of the Acadia Park Loop route. It was a fabulous day!  We returned to the ship, spent the afternoon enjoying the sunny day in Bar Harbor. Off to Canada tomorrow.

The Canada and New England Voyage begins.... Boston, Massachusetts

Here go are again, off sailing the Canada/New England Coast. Our main reason for taking these cruises was sail with our good friend Florin Dragomir, Hotel General Manager. The best laid plans do not always materialize…Florin is in quarantine recovering from COVID…he will be released from isolation in Montreal so we will have our second week to catch up. We did catch a hello from high up on his balcony.  We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted at check in by Mitch, the Mariner Event Coordinator, who we sailed with this past winter on the Rotterdam. This is my first time aboard the Zaandam and so far, I am pleasantly surprised what wonderful condition the ship is in…  As for the Officers and crew, they Rock!!!!  At the Mariners cocktail party there were so many familiar faces of staff and passengers we have sailed with in the past. We went out for sail away and I was able to capture some of the sites leaving Boston Harbor including Fort Independence on Castle Island, one of the oldest British constructed forts in the United States. It’s really been a whirlwind of a day, so many old friends and trying to sort out these new cameras….  Life is good.  Tomorrow is a very early day; we will be up and ready at 0630 to head into Bar Harbor Maine…  Should be grand!

Surprise! The three amigos are heading back out to sea....

Surprise, surprise….  Here everyone thought the Scott sisters and I were hunkered down on land for the summer, awaiting out huge voyages starting in October…  Well, we have a very dear friend, Florin Dragomir who is the Hotel General Manager of the Zaandam doing the Canada & New England Voyages.  He and his wife Rodica are really amazing people and so is their son Vlad.  We decided that we needed to visit him so off we go…  It’s only about 2 ½ weeks away so we can’t overthink this one.  So once again, the 3 amigos are off on another adventure!  This will give me a chance to learn a little about my new cameras as well.  It will be my first time on the Zaandam so I’m excited to see her… Ready or not Florin, we are on our way!
