Another early morning out and about taking sail in photos. We started our journey today driving the Southern Coast alongside the crystal-clear lagoon with our Tour Guide Miriama. We climbed up to Toatea Lookout, a picture-perfect spot. From here, we could see the breathtaking views of the Sofitel Hotel overwater bungalows. A coral reef protects the island, and a 30-minute ferry ride across the sea lies the island of Tahiti. Our next stop was Cook’s Bay…Nature at its best, a lush green paradise surrounded by towering cliffs covered in tropical vegetation. We made a quick stop at Tahiamanu Public Beach to snap a few more photos with the turquoise waters and the ship as a backdrop. Our last stop was the famous Belvedere Lookout. We climbed the narrow winding road to the Lookout, 400 meters above the valley floor. From here, we had breathtaking panoramic views of both bays and the towering Mount Rotui in between…this view is a lasting one. On our way down the mountain, we stopped at the Marae Ti'i-rua, a historical landmark of Polynesian cultural heritage. Built in the 15th century, this sacred site, with its impressive stone platforms once served as a central point for religious ceremonies and gatherings. Miriama gave us a great circle island tour, took us back to the tender pier and then safely delivered Lisa and Jim to the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort their overnight gateway in an overwater bungalow. We got the tender back to the ship and spent the afternoon in Retreat. Another day in paradise on this stunning island with such welcoming residents! What a magnificent day in paradise…
