I was up pretty early for a pitch-black sail into Halifax. Once the sun tried to come out, I was able to catch a few photos… Once the sun rose it was a gorgeous fall weather day. We rented a car close to the pier and were off and running... Cathy, Ann and I, with our GPS in hand, headed to Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove. We have visited Lunenburg on a few occasions, it is such a picturesque town that it never disappoints. Our first stop in Lunenburg was the Bluenose Golf Course viewpoint to see across the harbor to the town of Lunenburg. Again, on this visit, the iconic Bluenose was not in port. Lunenburg is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. We walked around town taking in the historic painted buildings, streetscapes and the waterfront. On our way to Peggy’s Cove, we decided to make a brief stop at Mahone Bay to see the iconic 3 churches and the marina. The weather was picture perfect…just a fabulous day to go to Peggy’s Cove. We made a brief stop at Indian Harbor to see the glacial erratic rocks and a view of the Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse. Peggy's Cove is famed for its Lighthouse and picturesque typically East-Coast look, with houses perched along a narrow inlet on wave-washed boulders facing the Atlantic. Although this unique environment has been designated a preservation area, it is still an active working fishing village with lobster boats moored in the harbor where colorful wooden houses line the tiny inlet. We had a great day touring Nova Scotia South shore on a beautiful day with the fall colors starting to appear. For me, it was just magic, the fall colors coupled with all the wonderful reflection shots just made my day… The only downside was, after trying hard to get a photo I wanted while venturing where I shouldn’t have gone, I took a spill and ripped open both knees… No worries, didn’t miss a beat! It was a spectacular day!!!!
Beautiful pictures. Hope it is as nice when we get there.
