Tales of the South Pacific, Day 40, Uturoa, Raiatea, French Polynesia (Part 1 of 2)

The big thing in Raiatea today was the big canoe race from Raiatea to Tahaa….  It’s a really big deal!  For myself, I decided to climb to the top of Mt Tapioi, about 300 meters or about an hour.  The climb is pretty strenuous but worth every step when you get to the top…  You can see all the way to Bora Bora and the colors of the waters, just like a painting….  Beautiful.  I spent quite a while at the top watching the canoes and checking out the scenery before heading back to town.   The town itself is fairly small so checking out the shops and places to eat or drink doesn’t take a lot of time.  The place is just another beautiful spot in French Polynesia….  Magnificent day!  This blog is in two parts, this is part one.
