Circle Hawaii Voyage, Day 63, Nawiliwili, Kauai (Part 2 of 2)

To experience Kauai’s natural wonders, we had booked a flight from a local family run company called “Wings over Kauai”, rated number 1 in Trip Advisor!!!! They picked us up and drove us to the airport, went through the safety rules, weigh-in and then  Cathy, Ann, Janet & I boarded the aircraft to begin our flight.  We took off from Lihue Airport to the south over the Amsterdam and then onward with an aerial view of Menehune Fishpond, Kipu Kai, Poipu and the spectacular Hanapepe Valley.  Next, we turned west and flew up Olokele Canyon before we arrived at the eye-popping Waimea Canyon, the famed Grand Canyon of the Pacific.  Then we arrived at the sculptural masterpiece of the Napali Coast, one of Kauai’s most stunning natural landmarks, the serrated edged cliffs reach for the sky and abruptly fall into the ocean.  Beautiful waterfalls and swift flowing streams continue to carve out the rugged valleys and shape the shorelines.  The gods were with us today, we could see Mount Wai’ale’ale the wettest spot on earth.  Flying over the crater with its 5000 foot walls and the 300 foot waterfalls surrounding us…truly an awe-inspiring finish to our adventure over Kauai, the garden isle.  Flying with Wings over Kauai to see this magnificent island and one that cannot be fully realized in any other way, is a must do for anyone who wants to experience Kauai’s many scenic wonders.  I enjoyed it much more than my helicopter tour last year….   Back in Nawiliwili we did a little shopping and returned to the ship for a leisurely afternoon.  This blog is in two parts, this is part two.
