Day 74 At Sea

Well the weather gods did not smile upon us today….  While we continued with smooth seas, there wasn’t much sun for a good part of the day.  I did get out for a bit in the late afternoon.  This afternoon they put on a buffet extravaganza….  It was beautifully presented but…..  not quite as nice as it could have been since they moved it to the Lido, behind glass, to protect against the GI illnesses going around the ship.  It was wonderful despite that….  Tonight, ate with my tablemates in the Pinnacle Grill once again and it was fabulous.  Tomorrow is our last day at sea before the debark in San Diego.  They will be going a deep clean of the ship and “fogging” it to kills all the bad stuff….   As a result, my plans to spend the day poolside, on the ship have changed….  I will be required to leave for the day.  They will offer a complimentary tour but….the thought of getting on a bus with the 40 in transit guests for the day when some could in fact have a GI illness is very not appealing.  The last thing I want is to catch something.  So right now I am planning on going to the San Diego Zoo for the day.  How does that sound?????

Day 73 At Sea

Wow!  Another wonderful day at sea…..  The weatherman is doing a great job.  It is so relaxing, sitting and reading.  There was a sing along out on the aft deck today which was quite fun.  We have had several and they are always wonderful.  Tonight the Fall Ball was cancelled due to a number of gastrointestinal, or GI illnesses going around the ship.  Thankfully, I am quite healthy…..  I suspect we will finish out this Grand Voyage under code red conditions….   Shame, wonderful voyage ends with a whimper…..

Day 72 At Sea

Another wonderful day as we cross the Pacific to San Diego….   The weather has been great.  Getting a lot of reading done out by the pool, very relaxing.  This evening I went to a double show, the first was Jim Curry with a tribute to John Denver and it was followed by the Indonesian Crew show.  Both shows were great.  I especially liked the crew show.  These folks really give it their all…. they work all day, practice for the show during their precious time off and in the end give a wonderful show.  It was a wonderful day and evening…..

Day 71 At Sea

Our first day out of Hawaii was a lovely day….  I just hope it lasts for a while.  The crossing can get a bit cool with some nasty weather…..  I spent the day poolside reading, very nice.  This evening, after dinner, they had a Pajama Karaoke Party in the Crow’s Nest.  Some of the singers were just amazing and the others well…… were amazing in their own way.  If I were to open my mouth and burst into song, I would be in the latter group.  Anyway, it was a very nice day.  The realization is beginning to hit that this voyage is coming to a close.  I will miss a number of new friends and some old ones when they debark in San Diego.  Then the fun really begins when the ship is fully booked, packed tight.  It will be a bit of a challenge for me.  Thank heaven I have my own lounge chair and side table so I can get away from the maddening crowd if I want.
