Just a bit of an update….
The time is flying by as my next Mega
Voyage approaches! Before we get to
that, the Sisters and I will be going to Churchill, Manitoba the last few days
of October for the Polar Bear migration….
Very exciting! I’ve wanted to do
this for a while now. When we get back
home, I have less than two weeks before I leave.
Now, as far as the voyage is concerned, as I had said in my original
blog, we were hoping to take an overland trip to Eastern Europe, well we are no
longer hoping…. it’s booked!!!! We have
booked 19 days in Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia, Hungary, Czech
Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia & Estonia… We are excited to begin our journey starting
when we sail into Kiel Germany, fly from Hamburg to Bucharest Romania, where we
will be met by our private driver and car …let the adventure begin as we head
out on our 19-day tour by road…. 10 countries and staying in the following
cities and of course photo stops along the way…..it should be quite the
adventure……

The next adventure is something different for me… I’m not taking the 2019 World Voyage, just couldn’t get excited about the itinerary after 12 consecutive World Voyages. For many years people have asked me “Where in the world haven’t you been that you would like to visit?” My response was always the same “The Baltic”. With that thought in mind, I set out to find a way to visit the Baltic without having to fly back and forth to Europe. I came up with a 7+ month voyage on the ms Rotterdam which had a Baltic Voyage in their deployment schedule and returned me to the USA on 30 July 2019. Things changed when Holland America Line announced the sail of their ship Prinsendam which disrupted the schedule of the Rotterdam making it no longer a viable voyage. Thanks to the help of the fabulous staff at Holland America Line, led by my Concierge Katerina Kovalova, I was rebooked on the Zuiderdam for 258 days commencing 14 November 2018 and returning me home 30 July 2019. The itinerary is fantastic, I will winter on the ship just sailing back and forth to the Panama Canal, sipping diet cokes and reading my Kindle before heading to Europe in April. The European itineraries are fabulous! The ship goes to the Baltic 3 times… We are hoping to also take and overland trip to Eastern Europe at some point. I am so excited about this upcoming adventure!!!!

This looks to be an awesome itinerary! No wonder you are excited, as I am to travel along with you, virtually of course! Thanks again for all the updates during your trips and I am hoping for good wifi so you can keep us updated on this impending mega voyage! Hope you are enjoying this hot summer so far!
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC!!!! Good for you! Have the date on my calendar and can't wait. A great change for you and a lovely ship. Are the best-dressed Canadian sisters going along this time?
ReplyDeleteHope you have time to get your own multiple visit visa for Russia. It would be great to spend a night ashore
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have made wonderful plans again. I was so worried about your abrupt end. Please stay healthy and enjoy your summer on land. I will look for your updates and pictures of your travels again. I will also look for your ship in passing as I travel the seas this season. Fran
ReplyDeleteJeff...
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're in for more..... fun, that is. Do you ever tire being away from home for so long? Have you ever met anyone else who travels this way, year after year? Just curious.
T&C
Gracias!
ReplyDeleteJeff, I am so excited for you. This sounds amazing. If I remember on the Voyage of the Vikings, you had a tee shirt that said " I was born in ......" I can't remember if it was Iceland or Greenland. I think you booked a helicopter to get to your birth town but, the weather was so bad they couldn't fly. I hope it works for you this time....looking forward to following your journey. Beachlady
ReplyDeleteJeff,
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing itinerary! With six months to work on it, you could be the best-tanned guy to ever sail the Baltic. It’s such an interesting part of the world. The Old Town in Tallinn is something else. You mentioned the possibility of visiting Eastern Europe; we took the bullet train from St. Petersburg for a day trip to Moscow.
Have a wonderful trip and we will be following your posts. I see you will be saying hello to Greenland again. Say hello to the Zuiderdam for us. We enjoyed the ship on an Alaska cruise a few years ago.

Nice Update! I am almost as excited to follow your adventure as I am about my impending NE/Canada Cruise next week. I know the blogging effort is a lot of your time and effort not to mention money, but again know, it is appreciated and enjoyed! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteHi, Jeff.....
ReplyDeleteYou have quite an adventure planned; a bit longer; It'll be fun. You being a walker, do you use any of the many walking apps when you are ashore trudging around? If not, and interested, check out GaiaGPS.com.
BTW, how many photos did you take during last year's many months of cruising? Just curious?
T&C
I’m sure it was over 50,000....
DeleteHi Jeff
ReplyDeleteAny chance you are going to post your pictures from the trip you took with the sisters to see the polar bears? I just cant imagine how cool that must have been. I've been following your cruise blog for years and have enjoyed seeing all the awesome places you have been able to see. Safe travels to you and all your friends.....
They were posted a while back.... have a look at the blog, 3 posts
DeleteI totally missed those. The bear pictures were so cool - to think the 3 of you had that opportunity of a lifetime too see them in their environment was awesome. Thanks again...
DeleteDarn! I can't find this new itinerary since you left to keep up on your travels. Are the sisters going on the entire cruise with you?
DeleteThe itinerary is always on the upper right hand of the blog, click on the link. The sisters join end of March. Thanks
DeleteWe're joining this cruise:
