I have been receiving a number of emails since I arrived back home wondering what I have been up to and when I would be traveling again…. Well, since I got back from the World Voyage I have been getting caught up around the house with things left undone during my absence, creating my World Voyage Book and getting lots of sunshine. I went to Delaware for the Memorial day Holiday, enjoying time with family & friends and…. Going to the beach. My first couple of days at Rehoboth Beach Delaware I almost had the place to myself as you can see from the photos. Anyway, today I booked an exciting voyage in July, the Holland America Voyage of the Vikings. I did a different version of this in 2009 and it was fabulous. I especially liked Greenland, my place of birth…. I will write more later but for now, here is the itinerary…..

Great to hear that you are booked for another cruise. As I read your entry, I was wearing my Qaqortoq T-shirt. I see that you get to stop at some different places than we did on our Voyage of the Vikings. Enjoy the trip and we will see you in January.
ReplyDeleteDid you know Qaqortog is only about 30 miles away from where I was born in Narsarssuaq? They are my homies....
ReplyDeleteThank you for catching us up - I am glad you are well and your next adventure sounds wonderful! -Kayred
ReplyDeleteJeff,
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your blogs. The VOV is on my wish list so I will be excited to travel vicariously with you on this trip.
Looking forward to enjoying your next adventure.
Terri
glad you are going back 'home'... and on your 'favorite ship' too... :) :) :)
ReplyDeletewe'll be back on the Maasdam once again for the 42 day roundtrip to Europe on 10/19.. we did it last year at 45 days
The Maasdam looks very good for the Europe roundtrip but..... too cold for me.
ReplyDeletelast year's crossing(Oct-28-Dec 12) was as 'smoothe' as your last crossing coming back home last month.. weather all around was quite decent as I had expected much 'kewler temps' for the trip
ReplyDelete.. actually the 'coldest' day we had was when we got in to Lisbon near the end...50* early morning in the fog... most days over there were high 60's or a smidge better.. we sail 9 days earlier this year starting Oct 19

I too look for the 'sun'... you most likely won't remember us.. but I always stay--all day long-- Lido deck aft starboard at the corner railing overlooking the Seaview Pool.. sailed with you... and Brad.. on Maasdam Oct-Nov 2010... 24 days .. when you took that great pic of the Maasdam in front of the Oasis at Crown Bay
Hi Jeff,
ReplyDeleteI have been checking back in here periodically for an update. Just wanted to send out a big THANK YOU for your generosity of time and resources. I have been following your travel blogs for several years now. Looking forward to reading along on your upcoming VOV. Thanks again.
Lora
Hi Jeff,
ReplyDeleteYes, missed your posts. Glad to see you are doing VOV this summer. We did a similar trip on another line several years ago and loved Qaqortuq - so colorful.
Barbara
Hi Jeff, Glad to see you're SEA withdrawal is almost up. I will be doing the top of Norway while you are doing VOV. I just booked Anarctica on Zaandam for Dec 2013 (As of now, Andre will be Captain during the sailing)Look forward to the pics.

jeff, i was on the 2009 VOV with you. some different ports this time will make it feel like new. some other cruise friends that were on the '09' are also going again this year. i hope you can get to narsarssuaq on this trip. you had a problem in '09' and didn't make it. don't forget your 'born in greenland' t-shirt. beachlady
ReplyDeleteHello Jeff, it's great to hear that you will visit my beautiful country during this yars VOV :-) I look forward to your photos!
ReplyDeleteI did the last leg of VOV in 2011, from Amsterdam to Boston and enjoyed every minute of it. Especially it was great to see L'anse aux meadows in St Anthony. And the icebergs...huge!!
Kirsti from Norway
I am really looking forward to visiting your beautiful country. Despite traveling all over the world, this will be my first trip to Norway.... Any recommendations?
ReplyDeleteI missed you! Thank you for sharing your travels with us. Can't wait for "our" next adventure!
ReplyDeleteFran
Hi Jeff,
ReplyDeleteJust returned to your Blog today after not looking at it for a month or so and I am thrilled that you will be off on another trip in July. Am looking forward to your photos and posts. We did a similar cruise on the Maasdam back in 2005.
Jennie (Australia)
Glad to hear you're planning another adventure. I really appreciate your taking the time to share them with us. It's the only way I'll see most of the places. I'm looking forward to this next one as I'll especially enjoy living vicariously through you as I recoup from knee surgery!
ReplyDeleteHello Jeff, I see from the itinerary that you are going to Aalesund, Geiranger fjord and Bergen. Aalesund is a small westcoast town. It is nice, with many buildings from the the art neuveau/jugend epoke. It will be nice just to stroll around. There is a small "mountain" in the middle of the city where you can get a nice view, as far as I remember.
ReplyDeleteIn Geiranger the nature and the fjord is beautiful. I suppose there are several sightseeing-tours here, unfortunately I have never been here myself (been to several other fjords though...).
Bergen is a lovely city, with a history dating back to the viking age. There is several medieval buildings here, and the famous harbour area callen "Bryggen", you cannot miss it, your ship will be docked not far from here I think. In the end of the harbour bay there is a nice fish-market. If the weather is good you should take the trip with the steep funiculare up to the "Floien"-mountain. The view from here is stunning! I do hope you get to see it!

Just be aware that the prices in Norway are very steep!! Most foreign tourists will be a bit shocked...
I wish you a great journey! And look forward to your photos!

Looking forward to your trip!
