Day 8 Reykjavik, Iceland

We finally got to put our feet on ground…  We arrived in Reykjavik around 2:00 this afternoon and were able to get off the ship around 2:30.  It was nice to walk around town for a while.  We visited Hallgrimskirkja Church which is well known icon for Iceland….  There were great views from the top.  So many of my photos have the Hallgrimskirkja Church in them because it really stands out with you look at Reykjavik….   It was a fabulous afternoon.  While ashore we booked a 14 hour tour for tomorrow, the South Coast & Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon….  We will stop at Seljalndsfoss waterfall, Skogafoss waterfall and Skaftafell National Park in addition to our tour of the lagoon.  Jokulsarlon started to form in the early 1920s and is getting larger every year.  It is populated with large blocks of ice that have broken off Vatnajokull, Eurpoe’s largest glacier.  Should be a wonderful, albeit, very long day….  Hopefully, the storm we are expecting to hit tonight will have passed by morning….

  2. Loved your pictures of Reykjavik. When we were there several years it was raining in torrents so did not see much. It's nice to see now what we missed. Thanks. Barbara
