Getting close....

Well, after what seems like an eternal waiting period, my next voyage is one week away.  Yes, a week from today I will be on the ms Amsterdam, my home away from home.  Once I get past lifeboat drill and finish unpacking, I will relax and enjoy the days at sea as we sail to the Hawaiian Islands.  I'm not too excited yet, that never happens until I am aboard.  I still have a very long flight to LAX to get past.  I hate flying..... For the rest of the week it will be finishing up on last minute details and buttoning up the house.  I am so ready to hit the high seas again!

  1. I'll be interested to hear how your check-in and boarding go. As you might know, none of the regular HAL shoreside employees were hired back this season in San Diego (and we also handled Long Beach/San Pedro HAL sailings.) The computer system that HAL uses is much different than that of either Princess or Carnival, so you might notice a longer time to get onboard. I hope all goes smoothly, but alas, no Diet Cokes at embarkation. Sorry!

  4. David, I was not aware of the fact that none of the employees were hired back. That may indeed make it difficult. Hopefully, being in the President's Club will lessen the delay somewhat... I hope! Hope you enjoy the blog... no diet cokes required :-) Thanks for being such a fan!!!

  7. Pier 91 in San Pedro does not have a separate security line for multistar Mariners, nor a VIP check-in room. Do you know what time of day you might be arriving from your hotel? Would you like me to ask the Pier Supervisor to call you on your cell phone in the morning and escort you through the terminal?

  9. OK, I'll pass that along. I believe that Leah will be Supervisor, but I'll double check and get you more info. As I mentioned, it might not be the best check-in experience.....so I hope you have someone to ask for if you need it. There will not me anyone other she who has any idea what President's Club means. Most of the staff will have little or no experience. I went ahead and joined up with the new shoreside staff here. See you December 4th.

  10. Three times.....4th.... 16th....and 20th. Today was our first sailing....and the good news is that about 60% of the old shoreside staff returned. Now all we need are more sailings from San Diego in the future.
