I do "do it on the fly" a lot but I am pretty experienced at this. I wouldn't recommend it to someone in your situation. The ship's tours may be the best alternative. Can I ask you a question about the South Pacific? <br /><br />We'll be going Feb/Mar to Suva, Port Vila, Papeete, Bora Bora and Rarotonga. None of the ship's excursions are all that great. I notice you pick up tours on shore 'on the fly' quite often. I've never done that. Is there enough to go around, will I be making a mistake by taking that chance. Unlike you, this will probably be our one an only time at these places.<br /><br />I'd rather not sign up for a cruise excursion if I can help it, but I do worry about picking up someone at the dock.
