Zuiderdam MegaVoyage 2018-2019, Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

It was a wonderful first full day with Ian onboard….  We did something a little different today, we visited the newest ship in the Holland America Line fleet, the Nieuw Statendam.  We arranged this some time back and it was an interesting experience.  We took a tender ashore, took the Nieuw Statendam tender to the Nieuw Statendam and reversed it after the tour……  lots of tendering!  Anyway, the tour was really nice, like old home week…  lots of staff and crew there that I knew, including Eddy & Callista, two magnificent florists who were perennially on the World Cruise and who once was my assistant waiter on a World Voyage before he rose in the ranks….  Loved the ship!  Beautiful ship, similar to the Koningsdam but with some improvements….   The only thing I didn’t care for was the Retreat….  They must have had a special on furniture because they jammed in so many sunbeds there is little room for moving around…. really not appealing to me.  Anyway, the rest of the ship was fabulous!  After going through the double tender operation again, it was off to the Retreat for a wonderful afternoon in the sun.  Tonight, we had the pleasure of dining with Claes and Angeli in the Pinnacle Grill.  It was a wonderful dinner capping off a spectacular day….
