2018 Grand World Voyage, Day 79, Victoria, Mahe, Seychelles (Part 1 of 2)

Ann, Cathy and I are leaving the ship today for an 11 day safari overland trip...so we had a few things to get in order before disembarking in Victoria Seychelles this morning. Roberto from Mason’s Travel met us at the ship....we arranged a half day tour with him before taking us to our hotel. First, we started in downtown Victoria and walked around town to see some of the sights, Clock Tower, Hindu Temple, Immaculate Conception Cathedral and spent time at the Sir Selwyn Clarke Market catching a bit of everyday life in Victoria.  Our next stop was the Botanical Gardens to see the giant land tortoises and other endemic flora and fauna. We continued the day doing a scenic circle island drive through the south, central and northern parts of the island, past towering granite peaks, lush vegetation, enchanting villages and magnificent beaches....we made stops at Eden Island, Takamaka Bay, Craft Village, Venn’s Town Mission and a drive through the Morne Seychelles National Park then across the island to the beautiful Beau Vallon Beach area.  We are spending the night on the Beau Vallon Beach at the Coral Strand Beach Resort before our early morning flight to Johannesburg, South Africa...it will be a short night but we are excited about the safari. Another great day in the Seychelles...what a beautiful island!
