2018 Grand World Voyage, Day 20, Moorea, French Polynesia

Today, we hired a driver to tour the beautiful island of Moorea.  Ann, Cathy, Margo, Harry and I got the first tender and met our driver/guide Damian for our tour.  Moorea, one of the French Polynesia, Society Islands is covered by lush vegetation, dominated by beautiful peaks and surrounded by white sand beaches.  We drove up Mount Rotui to the Belvedere Lookout for a magnificent view of the Opunoho Valley, Cook’s and Opunoho Bays. On our decent from the mountain, we stopped at an agricultural school and tasted homemade jam and the best pineapple ever.  Our next stop was the Opunoho Bay to visit the beach and see the turquoise waters.  We continued our 32 mile circle island tour stopping high above the famous over the water bungalows of the Sofitel.  What a beautiful island and a perfect backdrop for photos.  Another wonderful day in paradise...we were back on the ship for lunch...enjoying the afternoon and majestic scenery by the pool.  Looking forward to Bora Bora tomorrow and trying out my new underwater GoPro......

  1. Jeff,

Great photos of Moorea, one of the most beautiful islands we have visited. As usual, your camera finds more than ours. Stan and Peg from the dinner table next to yours on the 2010 World Cruise visited Moorea a few years ago and helped us plan the logistics of our visit. Thanks again for the photos, narrative and inspiration of your travels.
