2017 Grand World Voyage, Day 186, transiting the Suez Canal

No matter how many times I transit the Suez Canal I remain riveted at the scenery as we do the transit.  We began very early this morning, just before sunrise after being at anchorage overnight, lined up to lead the convoy.  We had a perfect day as we transited the canal, entered the Bitter Lakes and eventually entered the second channel opened two years ago.  It was after 3:00 when we finally passed Port Said and entered the Mediterrean Sea….  It will be an interesting time coming up.  I will be going overland, once again, with friends to travel to Turkey, visiting Capadoccia and later, I’ll be off again in Barcelona to spend time in Morroco.  So, the Med holds great interest to me in the coming days…  For starters, we will visit Rhodes on our next port stop which will be an exciting first vist for me.  It will also be from Rhodes that the Turkey adventure will begin….
