What a fabulous day!!!!! First order of business was to catch up on my blogs from our Beijing adventure…… The evening was just magnificent! First we had a special Mariner Appreciation Day Cocktail hosted by Holland America Line President Orlando Ashford. Fabulous party highlighted by Orlando presenting service awards to some of the most senior staff. Particularly noteworthy was Peter Wallis, the Purser with 40 years’ service. I don’t know how he does it, he still looks like he’s in his 30s…. The main event of the day however was my dear friend Cathy Scott’s birthday, she had well-wishers all day long including Orlando Ashford, Captain Mercer, Gerald Bernhoft and Henk Mensink,the hotel Director. We had a fabulous dinner hosted by our wonderful friends Florin Dragomir, the Culinary Manager and his beautiful wife Rodica. The dinner was just the best and the birthday celebration, Magnificent!!!! Cathy wanted to keep her birthday a secret but we made sure that wasn’t going to happen. Great night!!!! We then went to the show and off to the Crow’s Nest for some late night dancing….
