2017 Grand World Voyage, Day 109, Puntarenas, Costa Rica (Part 1 of 3)

Another early morning sail-in.  This morning Ann, Cathy and I negotiated a taxi tour with Juan Carlos and river boat ride with Crocodile Man Tours.  In route to the river we stopped at a privately run monkey rescue home for an up close and personal visit with the white face monkeys. I have used Crocodile Man Tours, a locally owned company,  many times and today was another great photo adventure down the Rio Grande Tarcoles River with our guide Jason.  This is Costa Rica’s largest river and is home to more than 20,000 crocodiles, besides many species of birds, iguanas and basilisk that inhabit this ecosystem. I have always enjoyed Ecotours in Costa Rica….  I also have been looking for Macaws on a number of previous trips to Costa Rica and today was successful thanks to the excellent spotting capabilities of our driver Juan Carlos. Juan Carlos also took us to the Villa Lapas resort for photos. I found a pretty cool 6 foot snake lounging across two chairs in the dining room…  how cool is that?  For our big finale, we made a stop at the Tarcoles River Bridge to see the crocodiles enjoying the noon day sun.  On our return to the port we stopped  for refreshments and WIFI.  Another great day in Costa Rica….  This blog is in three parts, this is part one.
