Tales of the South Pacific, Day 42, Opunohu Bay, Moorea, French Polynesia (Part 2 of 2)

What a fabulous day….  I decided to take on a pretty big challenge today, hike up to the Belvedere Lookout, about 6 miles from the tender pier with a half mile in elevation change.  I saw someone do it on the World Voyage and I thought he was crazy…  Well you can count me as crazy also.  The hike was actually pretty good, not too difficult and when you got off the roads and onto the old Belvedere trail, it was downright lovely.  The views along the way were stunning at times.  Perhaps you can see why I am reluctant to declare which island I consider as the most beautiful…   Moorea is certainly another candidate.  I really enjoyed today, make no mistake, it was hard work but the beautiful scenery made it all worthwhile….  This blog is in two parts, this is part two.

  1. Jeff,

Thanks for sharing another year of your cruise adventures. I was especially interest in your posting about French Polynesia. We plan to visit there in March after a New Zealand cruise. Hard to believe while that is four months away, we will still beat you home by a month!!! Actually, I believe you are already home.
