Tales of the South Pacific, Day 29, Lautoka, Fiji (Part 2 of 2)

Had a wonderful day today….  My plan was to explore Lautoka by foot.  Normally, my friends & I grab a cab and travel around the island, today I was concentrating on the town.  First, I decided to go to the fish market, one of my favorite places to visit…  Unfortunately, the place wasn’t going to open for several hours, probably since yesterday was Sunday, the had to wait until the fishermen brought in a new catch.  It really didn’t matter, I spend a long time there chatting with 20-30 guys who worked at the docks or were fisherman…  great experience.  Next, I decided to walk to town and head for the Central Markets.  They did not disappoint!  The people were just great.  It is so nice to capture people just going about their daily lives…. Then it was off again, next up was the Botanical Gardens where I had a nice walk around the gardens…  you had to really look for flowers and photo ops but I found several.  Then, on the way back to town, I decided to stop at the Sri Krishna Kaliya Temple where my friend Shiv had planned on going today.  What a coincidence, Shiv was still there with his assistant, Putu when I arrived.  He gave me a tour and explained a lot about Krishna…  Wonderful moment!  The three of us then headed back into town for an Indian Lunch. After lunch, we headed back to the ship wrapping up a great day!  The blog is in two parts, this is part one.
