2016 Grand World Voyage, Day 59, Hong Kong, People's Republic of China

Today was a fun day....  I went with 7 other friends to Lantau Island, one of my favorite places.  Joining me was Ann, Linda & Victoria, Susan & Michael and Karen & Patrick.....  What a great group!  First we took the Metro to Tung Chung where we caught the bus to the Tai O fishing village, the oldest fishing village around as far as I know.  They pretty much specialize in dried fish.  We took a boat trip around the village and out into the bay.  Unfortunately, there were no pink dolphin sightings today.  We then toured the village and did a little shopping....  they make the best almond cookies there, nice and warm!  Then we took the bus to the Po Lin Monastery where the Big Buddha is found.  We hiked up to the Big Buddha and took in the sights.  Then we made our way to the Ngong Ping 360 Village and down the cable car system back to Tung Chung...  Along the way the cable car system had an anomaly and came to a halt for about 10 minutes...  it was a little bit scary thinking about getting stuck up there.  Then it was off on the metro and back to the ship.  There was a beautiful sail away party in the Crow’s Nest as we said goodbye to wonderful Hong Kong!
