Day 172 Bagan, Myanmar (Part 2 of 2)

Returned to the hotel for breakfast then it was off to visit the Gu-Byauk-Kyi Temple to look at paintings, unfortunately no photographs allowed in temple.  Next stop was the Nan-Pa-Yar Temple to see the stone carvings than the Dhammayazaka Temple that was built in 119 and the largest pentagonal-based stupa in Bagan.  Next stop was Lemyethna Temple topped by an Indian style apex and then onto Tayoke Pyay and the Payathonzu complex which is a set of three interconnected shrines linked by passages and adorned with Mahayana-style mural paintings.  We then made a stop at the village of Minnanthu to see how the local people live, time has stopped!  Animals pulling a wheel to crush peanuts for oil with 3 small children riding along.  Ladies shaking basket of peanuts, selecting the best and older ladies smoking cheroots.  I paid an older lady for pictures and purchased a cheroot for a friend on the ship.  After our tour we headed back to the hotel for some relaxation and lunch…..pick up tomorrow at 6:30 for our flight to Inle Lake, our next adventure.

  2. Hi, Jeff...
Your Began photography and narrative is some of your best ever. Suspect this 10-day overland adventure might be one of your most memorable, too. Enjoy.
Curious if you have any 2015/2016 WC stirrings yet?
