Day 14 Kanazawa, Japan (Part 1 of 2)

Loved our visit to Kanazawa!  We sailed into the port of Kanazawa early this morning under overcast conditions.  The weather forecast was for a pretty rainy day and the forecast turned out to be true.  Despite the weather, we had a grand time.  Jan, Gerard, Ellie & I headed out on the first shuttle to the train station and began our adventure….  Our first stop was at the Omi-cho Market which has been in existence for 270 years….  That is a long time….  We spent a fair amount of time there and then headed out on the loop bus for the Hashiba-cho area to see the Geisha houses.  We enjoyed walking the street and checking out the tea houses and then headed for the Kenrokuen Gardens, one of the top 3 gardens in all of Japan….  Wonderful place.  Despite the rain it was fabulous!  Next we walked to the Kanazawa Castle Park to check out the castle and its gardens, just magnificent!  To finish up the day we went to the Nomachi area to look at some Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines….  It was a wonderful day exploring a new port, Kanazawa and interacting with the people….
