Day 12 Kushiro, Japan (Part 1 of 2)

Today, despite rather gloomy and wet weather turned out to be a great day…. The sail into the harbor was under extremely overcast and drizzly conditions.  I did manage to get a few good photos of the harbor area despite the weather.  My tablemates & I all went on a tour together exploring the Kushiro area.  We first stopped at the Kishiro Shitsugen National Park.  We found lovely scenery and lots of Red Crested Cranes along the way.  We also stopped at the Takimi Bridge for some spectacular scenery along a waterfall.  The fall colors are out in a big way.  We then headed to Lake Akan and the Ainu Kotan .  The largest Ainu settlement in Hokkaido.  We loved watching them perform their native dances.  They even got our group up (except for myself and fellow males in the group) for a final dance.  It was a great show….  Our final stop was at a private Japanese garden which was beautiful.  Again, the fall colors made quite the visual impact.  It was a wonderful day exploring with a great group of friends!  Here is part 1 of 2 parts….
