Day 9 At Sea

WE continue to sail across the Bering Sea and I am still searching for warmer weather….  It will be a bit longer I’m afraid before conditions improve.  Seems we have a bit of a storm and some higher winds to contend with but….  All is wel aboard the ms Amsterdam.  I am really enjoying the voyage.  The time with friends has been wonderful, the service above and beyond and the food magnificent.  What is not to like.  Today we did some serious planning for Tokyo. Two days docked in Tokyo and we paln on taking advantage of every minute of it.  Another 2 hours of extra sleep time again tonight…..  I think I am getting too well rested.  Tomorrow is Wednesday the 1st of October for us and we have 2 more sea days before our first Japanese port of Kushiro.

Day 8 At Sea

We continued sailing along today, crossing the Bering Sea, a little farther north than originally planned….   Seems there is a bit of a storm south of us.  Best to keep it smooth and comfy!  Despite my lack of time out in the sun, the days are enjoyable visiting with friends.  We are currently in the process of moving the clocks back 2 hours a night for three nights and an hour back on the fourth.  We’ll be eating dinner at breakfast time….  Nice sunset tonight and a wonderful dinner.  Allan & Sandra joined us for dinner which was great fun.  Tomorrow will be Tuesday (skipping Monday) as we cross the International Dateline.  We are making our way to Kushiro Japan, a port we had to pass up on a previous voyage.  Look forward to seeing a new location.  Still waiting for those days of sunshine poolside…..  soon (I hope!).

Day 7 Dutch Harbor, Alaska (Part 2 of 2)

Here are the rest of the photos from our fabulous scenic trekking around Dutch Harbor Alaska…..  It was a fabulous first time visit!

Day 7 Dutch Harbor, Alaska (Part 1 of 2)

Had a spectacular, albeit, short day in Dutch Harbor……  We arrived at 8:00, sunrise was at 9:00 and all aboard was at 1:30…..  We made the most of it, I went ashore at 8:30 (yes it was dark) with Jan, Gerard & Ellie, three of my table mates.  We walked all over the island including to the top of Bunker Hill for some incredible 360 degree views.  It was a lot of fun, beautiful scenery, seals, eagles and assorted other wildlife….  What a day!  We walked over 10 miles on our trek, simply a wonderful day!!!!!
