Day 101 Mindelo, Cape Verde Islands (Part 2 of 2)

If you are seeing this I am amazed….  The internet here is still ridiculously bad!  At this moment, I am not sure that I want to get back onboard in September.  Tomorrow will most likely  be my decision point.  Just too frustrating to continue dealing with this crap.  Anyway, here are the rest of the photos to our most excellent day touring Mindelo and Santiago Island.

  1. Just caught up to all your blog posts since about Mar23. I was on a collectors cruise for 2 weeks then arrived home sick. Now I'm envious of all your great travels
Thanks for taking the time to do your blog, I know what a pain it is when the internet won't cooperate. I just gave up and am finally getting caught up on my blog. A belated Happy Birthday to you, it looks like you had a good time. .

  2. Jeff, it seems as though the most remote places now have WiFi......do you think that next year you could catch up with your blog in the ports? I know it would be a pain, but it would be a way to get it done. Not much worse than it is now. Too bad you have to go to those extremes....Beachlady

  3. Dear Jeff, by accident we found your blog. We did not join the world cruise 2014 but by following your blog with all the nice pictures we felt at home and a little jealous. Thank you so much for your tremendous efforts to please us and so many others. It is a pity that you missed some new ports of call in Western Africa. Here is our suggestion: may be you could book for a section of the cruise around Africa with ms Rotterdam, i.e. Cape Town - Rotterdam, nov. 15 - dec. 21 2014 with new ports of call Luanda/Angola, Tema/Ghana, Banjul/Gambia and Dakar/Senegal (pool on ms Rotterdam is a wade pool only). We booked this cruise. May be we will meet each other there, otherwise possible on the world voyage 2015. Forthermore congratulations that you joined the 65+ club. We remember from the Grand Pacific and Far East Voyage the problems with your knee. Hope that your knee is better now.
Kind regards, also to Christel and Henk, from Angelique and Gerard van Gaalen from the Netherlands.

  4. FWIW we were on the Maasdam( I know it's not one of your favorites) for 14 days --got off it last week.. the 'Harris Internet' is actually better than the old MTN one.... at least it didn't knock me off like MTN always did..a bit 'faster' than MTN but that's not saying much .. I could post a few pics without getting myself aggravated.. coverage thruout the ship was a lot better also even in our cabin on Lower Prom deck aft.. we'll be back on the Maasdam on May 24 for 14 days roundtrip Boston up to Montreal ...hard to believe in this day and age that we have to put up with this kind of non-tech while out at sea for the ridiculous prices they are charging--disappointing for sure.. would like to see HAL go the way Princess did with free internet for most after only a few cruises... enjoy the rest of your cruise

  5. Thank you for the great pictures. I was wondering about the vegetables shown in the pictures, are they all grown there? The land does not seem to appear good enough to grow them. They look very fresh.
