Day 55 Laukota, Fiji (Part 1 of 2)

Had a great day in Fiji today…  Brad, Gloria & I went into town and hooked up a taxi for the day. Our first stop was the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, a fantastic orchid garden began by Raymond Burr.  It is an exquisite garden.  We spent a fair amount of time there before heading for Nadi.  Unfortunately the main market there was closed because it is Sunday here.  We went to the Hindu Temple for a visit which was nice.  Our driver did find us a market which was great, I even bought all the hot chilies for the crew.  We then toured the local scenery as we drove around the island and even scoped out a couple of beaches.  Our final stop was at a local village…. The people we extremely friendly and I was even asked to have a drink with the chief.  Not sure I could find it again, we drove for a few miles on top of the rail tracks…  thank goodness no trains were scheduled.  Great day!!!!

  1. Hi Jeff....
As always, love your photos; so good!
As we enjoy following your adventure it often seems like the various smaller ports of call begin to look alike. In you memory, as the month pass, can you readily differentiate much one island from another?
Also, curious when one is gone for so many months at sea, what do you miss most about being away from home? A full newspaper? McDonalds... Just kidding?
