Here we go again....

After much hand wringing and indecision I have decided to hit the high seas for another very long voyage.  I am probably the most surprised person on the planet because I thought there was close to a zero chance I would sail again this year.  Oh well, I guess I was wrong!!!  This one will be a bit different because my home away from home, the ms Amsterdam, is going into dry dock for two weeks in December and I’ll have to get off the ship in Los Angeles.  Bummer!  To fill in the gap, I will head to San Diego, from L.A., and board the ms Statendam for a 12 day Sea of Cortez cruise.  After that, I fly to San Francisco to meet up with the Amsterdam once again.  I will then stay on the Amsterdam for the next 130 days.  So, in summary, I will be sailing for 7 months again.  I hope it turns out to be a great adventure.  Here is the itinerary for the next big voyage:

  8. Hi Jeff,

Delighted to learn your suitcases aren't going into storage at home. Hope you are enjoying all this HOT weather we're having.
Will be anxiously awaiting your posts and pictures. You really do a nice job with both.

  9. Jeff,
Would like to join you on the Sea of Cortez portion of your cruise. I grew up about 85 miles from the head of the Gulf in Yuma. As a Boy Scout we went to San Felipe on the east coast of Baja. The tide would go out and the boats wee all on the mud flats. Took the earlier version of the Gulf cruise but see that they have added Guaymas and would like to visit that port.
Took the train ride to visit Copper Canyon. 2 hr bus ride and 6 hr. train ride. I really enjoyed it. Bill Hobart

  10. Jeff,

So glad that you are cruising once again. The itinerary for the World Trip looks great especially the voyage from Sydney to Hong Kong via Papua New Guinea which I have always wanted to visit.

I look forward to your wonderful photos and excellent descriptions from next month onwards.

  12. Jeff, I am so excited you are taking this cruise. On your World Cruise I followed you on my blog as a virtual cruise. This cruise is on my bucket list so I decided to follow it on my blog. I am really excited to be able to feature your wonderful pictures on it. We were going to take the Statendam cruise in December but had to cancel. Sorry we will miss meeting you!

    Have a wonderful trip!
