Day 115 Cuzco to Machu Picchu..... sights along the way! (Part 1 of 2)

It was avery early 5:40 pickup at the hotel for our Vistadome train ride to Machu Picchu.....  Almost didn't make it because there was a delay due to landslides on the tracks.  This is a problem that can plague this area during rainy season.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that our train tomorrow goes without a hitch.  It was a lovely train ride, loved all the lush countryside and the people going about their day to day chores....  It was a nice buildup to the main event, Machu Picchu which you can see in (Part 2 of 2).

  2. Jeff, Bob and I went to Machu Picchu in the late 80's and on the train ride back to Cuzco, there was a landslide and we spent the night right there on the train on the tracks next to the river.. A crew came and cleared the tracks during the night,-- you would have gotten amazing pictures of it! We were all a day late getting back to Cuzco and then on to Lima. Quite an experience. The joys of traveling. Beachlady

  3. I would like to be there when they lit the huge bonfire that is ready to go in one of your photos. Also I was concerned about the people in the crate truck if a stone is needed to stop it rolling on fairly flat ground. Makes me wonder about the brakes!
