Day 18 Nagasaki, Japan

Today was an amazing, first time visit to Nagasaki Japan.  I have wanted to visit here for a long time because of the history here relating to the dropping of an atomic bomb during WWII.  I went ashore early on with Larry & Carol and we bought an all-day pass for the street cars.  First stop, Peace Park, Ground Zero and the Atomic Bomb Museum.  This was a very somber visit and certainly thought provoking…  After a couple of hours there we headed for the Suwa Shrine and what a surprise that was….   We arrived as the Nagasaki Kunchi, the autumn festival of Suwa Shinto Shrine was wrapping up.  We were treated with some of the groups giving performances like the Geishas, people with a float and musicians and the Chinese dragon.  It was fabulous…  Speaking of fabulous, the Suwa Shrine was pretty spectacular as well.   Then it was off to the Spectacles Bridge and the Sofukuji Temple.  The day was wrapped up at the Confucian Shrine.  It was an extraordinary visit.  To top it off we had a very nice sail away party, wonderful, wonderful day!!!

  2. Jeff, your pictures are fantastic. Did you use a filter for the first two in this set? Wish I could take pictures as good as yours, looking forward to the rest of your cruise updates.

  3. Hi Jeff,
So glad your port visits have been so amazing. Sorry that sharing your adventures via the internet was so stressful and time-consuming. You do know how to capture a marketplace and people. Fantastic photos.
    Thanks so much.
