Day 11 Hakodate, Japan (Part 1 of 2)

I have been suffering from withdrawals so….  Posting lots of photos today.  It’s not that they are any good, just that I have felt deprived sailing for 9 days straight.  Larry, Carol & I were the first ones off the ship today at 0715 and we immediately grabbed a taxi and headed into town for the morning market.  What a place….  I saw some of the largest King Crabs that I have ever seen.  We spent quite a bit of time there checking out the seafood, fruits, vegetables, flowers and of course the people.  We bought an all-day pass for the Tram (streetcar) and headed out to the end of the line to see the hot springs.  What we ended up seeing was a botanical garden with lots and lots of monkeys, flowers and hot springs.  Very nice!  Then we headed to Goryokaku Tower overlooking the fortress.  We stopped there for lunch and then caught the tram back to the other end of town.  We walked for a long way checking out the shrines, architecture and the port.  Then it was time to head back to the ship.  At sail away we had a delightful show for the area school children.  It was fabulous!!!

  1. Fabulous indeed! I would have won the bet that you'd be the first off the ship for sure. Hope you have a connection for awhile so that you keep your sanity.
