Day 128 Delphi to Katakolon Greece

Today was a pretty nice wrapup to a pretty good trip.  First of all, our guide, Rula Skoula, did a magnificent job.  She was exceptionally knowledgeable in Greek history and mythology….  She certainly did a wonderful job showing us her country.  We left Delphi around 0830 and headed for Katakolon .  We took the coastal road passing by the town of Nafpaktos.  From there we  proceeded to Antirio to see the  famous cable-stay bridge that was completed prior to the 2004 Olympic Games.  Then we had lunch which was , once again, wonderful…  These 3 days have been filled with the best Greece has to offer in terms of food….  Yummy!  Then it was off to Katakolon.  It was amazing driving through the area that I lived in back in the 70s.  Most of it is dramatically changed.  It was nice seeing the road signs pointing to Araxos, where I once lived.  I arrived at the dock about an hour before we had to be aboard so I walked the streets of Katakolon for an hour taking photos and running into friends.  It certainly was a nice trip, marred slightly by the bizarre weather, and a great way to celebrate my birthday….

  1. Glad you had such a good experience in Greece! Looks like beautiful countryside and coast. Great bridge photos...the bridge is rather anachronstic compared to the old architecture of the area, but so beautiful. TFTC...JL

  2. Jeff, Rula was our guide on our 17 day tour of Greece in 2002 and we agree that she is great. Glad that the trip recovered from the weather. Also, a belated Happy Birthday.
