Day 110 Colombo, Sri Lanka (Part 1 of 2)

Today and started our trek exploring the city was one of those perfect days….  First of all, I have not visited Sri Lanka before so that in its self makes it pretty special.  Secondly, we took the road less traveled.  Ed, Becky, Mike, Janet & I left the ship first thing and found the way out of the port around all the security,  We headed toward the lighthouse and eventually found our way to the Pettah area.  Here we picked up a guide of sorts, David, who basically pushed himself into the job.  We spent the day in markets and parts of town where we saw no tourists or foreigners of any kind.  It was a great day taking pictures of people as they went about their daily lives.  After a magnificent morning, we let David go and went for lunch at a hotel overlooking the port.  Lunch was great, especially the fried cashews….  After lunch we headed out again visiting the city.  On the way back to  the ship, we walked along Galle Face Green along the water front.  It was a spectacular day and…. Yes, I took a bunch of photos so today, once aging there will be two parts to the blog.
