Day 103 Part 1 Chaing Rai

We left Chaing Rai this morning at 7:00 am heading for Chaing Rai, about a 3-4 hour drive...  The whole northern part of Thailand is so smokey from the slash & Burning of the crops... tough to breathe...  Our first stop was at Cabbages & Condoms, a Restuarant, for a refreshment break around 8:30.  Then it was off to see some Hill Tribes at Mae Chan.  First we visited the Yao and then the Akha hill tribes.  Then it was off to the ancient city of Chiang Saen.  We visited the remains of the old city and Buddhist temple.  Then we had lunch on the banks of the Mae Khong River in the Golden Triangle area.  After lunch we took a side trip to Laos (see part 1).  Then we went to Mae Sai, the northern-most trading town between Burma (Myanmar) and Thailand.  Brad & I, according to the border postings wandered into Myanmar for a bit... Oh well.   Our final stop was at the spectacular Wat Rong Khun (White Temple).  I have been all over the world and it would be a rare moment when you would find a temple as beautiful as this one...  Nice finish to a wonderful day!
