Day 7 Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

I had 2 main goals for the 32 days aboard the ms Amsterdam prior to the World Voyage starting….  The first was to spend a lot of time with my friends Aart & Willem and the second was to soak up a lot of sun.  I am happy to report that both are going extremely well.  This morning we arrived into the port of Puerto Quetzal Guatemala.  Most of the folks went to the city of Antigua where I have previously visited soooooo….  it was a quick trip ashore for Aart & I for a little shopping, a few photos and back to the pool.  I am really loving this poolside routine.  I just soak up the sun, read my Kindle and listen to music…. Life is good.  I have been meaning to tell a little story about the embarkation in Los Angeles….  As I was checking in at the pier, the woman who was checking me in put a large gift wrapped box on the counter.  She said that it was for me from the gentleman checking people in a little further down.  He said it was a little thanks for my blog.  He said he loves my photos and enjoys the blog over a cup of coffee every day.  I thought that was so cool.  The blog is a lot of work and it makes it all worthwhile just knowing that people appreciate it.  Best of all, it was diet coke which anyone who knows me can tell you that is my favorite drink…..  Anyway, back to today….  It was a truly magnificent day…  Tomorrow we will be in Nicaragua…..

  4. One of your cruisemates on the Jan Around the World cruise turned me on to your blog. I know what you mean about the work involved in blogging. I get a little upset when friends ask me where I've been lately.....

  5. Great embarkation story. Add me to the list of appreciative readers. I've been following your blog for the past 1.5 years, caught up on the many previous versions, and now check it daily--it's fantastic!

  6. If I knew where to send the Diet Coke you'd have a case waiting at each port. I too read your blog an marvel at the pictures each morning with coffee. I've done this for several years. Thank you so much for all you do for helping us landlocked sailors pass the winters at home.
