Day 19 San Juan, Puerto Rico

San Juan, in my opinion, is one of the great “sail ins” around the world along with places like Sydney, New York and Hong Kong.  The Castillo de San Felipe del Moro and the Fuerte San Cristibal are imposing sights along with their walls circling old San Juan.  I was out early, in the rain, taking in this beautiful scenery.  It was a lovely sail into the port.  As soon as we were cleared, I headed out on a 4 hour, 10 mile hike around the city taking in both forts…  It was a fabulous way to spend a morning.  I especially loved all the huge iguanas I encountered at Fuerte San Cristibal….  They were so colorful.  I then headed back to the ship for some sun and diet coke.  I left the ship again around 4:30 with Aart for some shopping…. It wasn’t too exciting, we didn’t find much that we couldn’t like without….  Great day!!!  Tomorrow, St. Thomas…..

  3. That is a great walk. Where else can you get these interesting Forts, so close together, and close to the ship? Glad you didn't go down the steps to the squatter village. Great photos, thanks.
